How to Choose a Pilates Reformer for Home
Compare footprint, adjustability, construction and the way you actually plan to train.

Buying guidance: compare the exact model’s current specifications and instructions. This article is not a hands-on product review.

A home reformer is a large purchase and a large object. Start with the room, the people who will use it and the kind of Pilates practice you want to support before comparing finishes or accessories.
Check reformer footprint and movement clearance
Use the manufacturer’s assembled dimensions, then mark that rectangle on the floor. The machine footprint is only the first measurement: you also need room to get on and off, move around the carriage and use any tower or accessories safely.
Compare carriage, springs and included accessories
- Check carriage travel and user-height guidance.
- Compare spring systems and adjustment positions.
- Confirm included box, jumpboard, straps, tower or other accessories.
- Review maximum user weight and manufacturer clearance guidance.
Fixed, folding or movable reformer?
A reformer that folds or stands for storage can still be heavy and awkward to move. Decide whether yours will remain assembled, move between rooms or share a space with other activities.
Compare delivered value
Look beyond the base price. Included accessories, warranty coverage, replacement parts, delivery method and return terms can materially change the value of two similarly priced reformers.
The RESEVVOR space check
Before buying, verify assembled length, width and height from the current manufacturer specifications. Mark the footprint in the actual room and keep additional movement clearance around the machine. Do not infer dimensions from photos.
Match the reformer to your practice
List the exercises and instruction you plan to follow, then check which accessories that practice requires. A tower, jumpboard or box is only useful if it supports the sessions you intend to do. Confirm compatibility before treating an accessory bundle as a better deal.
Compare adjustment reach, entry height and the manufacturer’s user-fit guidance for everyone who will use the machine. If a studio reformer is familiar to you, use its feel as a reference, while checking the exact home model’s spring system and carriage rather than assuming the experience transfers unchanged.
